My Random Rants
Software subscription -> reduced innovation
My school and work pays for google suite subsription. gdoc, gslide, they are there, functional, but see next to no improvement over the years. Because google isn't incentiviced to improve them. G slide for example, selecting shapes to move vs resize is a haphazard (of an AI guessing what I want to do?) Resizing the call-out box shape larger to fit more text does NOT need to proportionaltely resize the poniter/wedge that is sticking out pointing to the item being called out. Zoom on Gslide is mostly there, but if you have an image that is over the border of the page, then finding a zoom level to resize the figure is... good luck, YMMV.
Back in the days, M$ has to make its Word and PowerPoint better to motivate users to buy new version, cuz if it is the same old same old, why pay for it?
Is this the sinister reason why all the company wants to go to subscription model? So they just charge and charge for user using the thing, but without havint to actually work to make improvement?
BTW, by improvement I really mean change toward the better. Changing UI, moving things around to give it a new "fresh" and "different" feel is NOT improvement. If anything, I would call those a REGRESSION!
